EU Large scale IT systems – Security

This section provides information on the large-scale EU databases set up to facilitate cooperation between competent police, judicial and administrative authorities of the Member States for law enforcement, border control and asylum purposes, with a view to establishing an area of freedom, security and justice in Europe. These include the second generation Schengen Information System (SIS II), the Visa Information System (VIS), the Eurodac system, the Passenger Name Records - PNR and the Terrorist Finance Tracking Programme (TFTP Agreement).

The corresponding sections provide information on the purpose of each system, the legislation regulating its operation and the rights that can be exercised by the persons registered in the databases of the system. The supervisory role of both the competent Joint European Supervisory/Coordination Groups and the Hellenic Data Protection Authority are available here.
