Graduate of School of Law of the University of Athens and the School of Economic and Political Studies of the University of Athens. He has done postgraduate studies at the University Paris 2 and he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (2014). He was Vice President of the Council of State from 2001 to 2012 (President of 5th Section 2003-2012) and President (2012-2013). Also, he was Μember or President-in-Office of the Supreme Special Court (2011-2013) and President or Member of the Central Codification Committee (2004-2016). He was Director of Studies (1994-1996) and General Director (1996-1999) at the National School of Judges. Also, he was Head of the Legal Department at the General Secretary of the Government (1998-2001).

He is scientific coordinator of the law journal “Nomos and Physis”, President of the Special Law-Drafting Committee for the codification of legislation for urban and spatial planning, President of the Organization for the Promotion of Alternative Dispute Resolution (“OPEMED”), Board Member of Goulandris Natural History Museum, President of Executive Board of Greek Biotope/Wetland Centre and President of scientific associations that are involved in environmental issues and spatial planning. From 1998 to 2007 he was President of the “Association of Greek Judges for Democracy and Freedoms”.

Ηe has participated in many Greek and international conferences and he is the author of a large number of publications on justice, environment, spatial planning and the protection of personal data.

Georgios Batzalexis

Georgios Batzalexis, Deputy President of the Hellenic DPA (since August 2011), is an Honorary Judge of the Supreme Civil and Criminal Court and former professor at the National School of Judges. He holds three postgraduate degrees, that is two degrees from the University of Paris, Sorbonne (Paris 1 & 2), Diplôme d’Etudes Approfondies (D.E.A.) in Procedural Law (Political and Criminal Procedure) of the University of Paris 1 in 1985, Diplôme Supérieur d’Université (D.S.U.) in European Community Law (1983) and a postgraduate degree from the Department of Criminal Law of the Faculty of Law of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He is a graduate of the Law School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and of the former Graduate School of Industrial Studies of Thessaloniki (now University of Macedonia). During his stay in France he participated in meetings of the Paris Courts of all jurisdictions (Court of First Instance-Court of Appeal). Ηe participated in court sessions of all the courts in Paris (Court of First Intance, Court of Appeals, Supreme Court). He attended, for 6 months, as a foreign judge, special seminars for judges from other countries, at the National School of Judges in France (Paris). He served as a Judge (2009-2010), in the Sixth Criminal Division, Member of the Supreme Special Court (1/1-30/6/2010), President of the Athens Court of Appeals (2007-2009), in the Criminal Division, President of the Court of Appeals of Corfu, Court of Appeals of Thessaloniki and Larissa, President of the Court of First Instance of Kavala, First Judge of the Court of First Instance of Thessaloniki and Kilkis. Before he became a judge he was also a member of the main staff of Legal Council of the State (1974-1978).

Spyros Vlachopoulos

Professor of Law, School of Law, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens

Dr. Spyros Vlachopoulos was born in 1968. He is a Doctor of Law at the University of Munich (1995) and Professor at the Law School of the National and Kapodistrian University (Athens), specializing in Public Law. In addition, he has taught at the Hellenic National School of Judges. He is an author of a large number of books and articles on various legal issues in the field of public law, such as the constitutional history, the interpretation of the Constitution and the fundamental rights, the transparency and protection of personal data. He represents cases of public law before the Council of State and Administrative Courts. He is the President of the Committee for the Evaluation of the Law-Making Process and also member of the Personal Data Protection Authority.

Costas Lambrinoudakis

Dr. Costas Lambrinoudakis holds a B.Sc. (Electrical and Electronic Engineering) from the University of Salford (1985), a M.Sc. (Control Systems) from the University of London (Imperial College-1986), and a Ph.D. (Computer Science) from the University of London (Queen Mary and Westfield College-1991). From 1998 until 2009 he has held teaching position with the University of the Aegean, Department of Information and Communication Systems Engineering, Greece. Currently he is a Professor at the Department of Digital Systems, University of Piraeus, Greece. From 2015 he is Director of the Systems Security Lab, while for the period 2015-2020 he served as Head of the Department. For the period 2012-2015 he was a member of the board of the Hellenic Authority for Communication Security and Privacy, while from 2016 he serves on the board of the Hellenic Data Protection Authority.

His current research interests are in the areas of Information and Communication Systems Security and of Privacy Enhancing Technologies. For many years he is working on issues related to the protection of personal data and the compliance of information systems to the National and European Legislation. He is an author of more than 120 scientific publications in refereed international journals, books and conferences, most of them on ICT security and privacy protection issues. He has served as program committee chair of 15 international scientific conferences and as a member on the program and organizing committees in more than 200 others. Also he participates in the editorial board of two international scientific journals and he acts as a reviewer for more than 35 journals. He has been involved in many national and EU funded R&D projects in the area of Information and Communication Systems Security.

Christos Kalloniatis is an Associate professor and head of the Department of Cultural Technology and Communication of the University of the Aegean and director of the Privacy Engineering and Social Informatics (PrivaSI) research laboratory. He holds a PhD from the Department of Cultural Technology and Communication of the University of the Aegean and a master degree on Computer Science from the University of Essex, UK and a bachelor degree from the Department of Informatics of the Technological Institute of Athens.

His main research interests are the elicitation, analysis and modelling of security and privacy requirements in traditional and cloud-based systems, the analysis and modelling of forensic-enabled systems and services, Privacy Enhancing Technologies and the design of Information System Security and Privacy in Cultural Informatics. He is an author of several refereed papers in international scientific journals and conferences and has served as a visiting professor in many European Institutions. Prior to his academic career he has served at various places on the Greek public sector including the North Aegean Region and Ministry of Interior, Decentraliastion and e-Governance as well as a deputy member of the board of the Hellenic Authority for Communication Security and Privacy. He has a close collaboration with the Systems Security Laboratory of the University of Piraeus. He has served as a member of various development and research projects.

Aikaterini N. Iliadou is an Associate Professor at the Law School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, with the subject "Public and especially Administrative Law" and Lawyer at the Supreme Court of Greece. She is a graduate of the Law Department of the School of Law and Economics of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (1992), holds a Master's Degree in Public Law and Political Science from the same University and in 1998 was awarded a doctorate from the Law School of the University of Regensburg (Doktor der Rechte). She is the author of 4 monographs and a large number of articles in Greek and foreign scientific journals and collective volumes on Public Law, European Law, Energy Law and the Environment.

He has been appointed as alternate member of the Board on September 2016 and he serves on the Chamber and the Grand Chamber (Plenary). He is an attorney at law, LLM Criminal Law, active lawyer from 1998 and expert on criminal law, data protection and electronic communication secrecy law. From 2005 to 2006 he was a legal counselor at the Hellenic Authority for Communication Security and Privacy. In 2010 he was awarded the Konstantinos Tsirimokos prize from the Hellenic Criminal Bar Association. He has developed intense scientific and author work by participating to legal research and conferences, he has extensively published numerous legal studies, opinions and articles to specialized legal magazines, but also to electronic and conventional Media, while he is a member of the scientific committee of legal magazines DITE and CRIMINAL JUSTICE. He is a member of the EU GDPR Expert Group, EU Data Retention Group and CoE Working Group CDPC “Artificial Intelligence & Criminal Law”. He has participated and participates as an expert in Special Legislative and Scientific Committees of the Hellenic Ministry of Justice for drafting laws in the areas of criminal law, data protection and electronic communication secrecy law.

Professor of Information Systems for Libraries and Archives at the Department of History and Philosophy of Science, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA)

Christos Papatheodorou is a Professor of Information Systems for Libraries and Archives at the Department of History and Philosophy of Science, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), Athens, Greece and a fellow researcher in the Digital Curation Department, Information Systems Institute, "Athena" Research Centre, Athens, Greece. He holds a BSc and a Ph.D in Computer Science, both from the Department of Informatics, Athens University of Economics in 1987 and 1992 respectively. His research interests include digital curation and preservation, digital libraries, e-records management and metadata interoperability, digital humanities, e-Science/Open Science, and personalisation. He has participated as evaluator and researcher in several international R&D projects, and as chair or programme committee member in international conferences. He is the author of journal and conference papers.

Dr. Demosthenes Vouyioukas is Professor and Head of the Department of Information and Communication Systems Engineering, University of the Aegean, Greece, while he has also appointed as Director of the Computer and Communication Systems Laboratory and Director of the MSc program “IoT: Intelligent Environments in Next-Generation Networks”. He received the five-year Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering (1996) and the Ph.D. degree (2003) in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). He also received a Joint Engineering-Economics M.Sc. from NTUA (2004). From 1996 to 2003, he has been a scientific researcher, and from 2003 to 2005, a senior researcher at the Mobile Radiocommunications Laboratory of NTUA. From 2005 to 2006, he was with Hellenic Aerospace Industry at the Department of Satellite Communications. In 2004, he joined University of the Aegean as an adjunct lecturer (2004-2010), an Assistant Professor (2010-2016) and an Associate Professor (2016-2020). In 2021 he was appointed as a deputy member of the Hellenic Data Protection Authority, and he has also served as a deputy member of the Hellenic Authority for Communication Security and Privacy (2012-2019).

His research interests include mobile and wireless communication systems, channel characterization and propagation models, performance modeling and machine learning techniques of wireless networks, UAV and aerial communications, next generation mobile and satellite networks, Network Security and Privacy Policies. In this area, he has over 130 publications in scientific journals, books, book chapters and international conference proceedings, wherein has is the author and editor of three books. He has more than 20 years of experience in the design and operation of wireless, mobile and satellite communications networks, where he served as a scientific coordinator in several National research projects and as research associate in several National and European research projects. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and Member of IEEE Communication Society of the Greek Section, a Member of IFIP and ACM, a Member of the Technical Chamber of Greece.

Nikolaos Livos

Assistant Professor of Criminal Law at the Law School of Athens

He was born in Patras. He studied Law at the University of Thessaloniki. As a Fellow of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), he completed postgraduate studies in Criminal Law at the University of Freiburg/Germany and the Max Planck Institute. In December 1984 he received his PhD with the highest distinction (“summa cum laude”).

He was initially a Professor of Criminal Procedure at the School of Officers of the Hellenic Police. He was then appointed as a Lecturer in the field of Criminal Sciences of the Faculty of Law at the University of Athens and later was elected as Assistant Professor.

He has worked as a Special Advisor in several Ministries, represented Greece in international organizations and in the EU, and participated as a member or chairman in more than 25 legislative committees of different ministries, and in more than 10 Working Groups.

He practices law as a member of the Athens Bar Association.

Since 1989 he is a member of the editorial board of the scientific journal ‘Criminal Chronicles’.

He has written two scientific monographs, more than 40 articles, many comments on court decisions, and translated many criminal science articles from German and English, as well as important philosophical (Adorno), sociological (H. Willke) and literary works (Thomas Mann, Hermann Broch). He has also collaborated as a translator with the Athens Concert Hall.

He retired from the University in 2021 and was appointed as an alternate member of the Hellenic DPA in November of the same year.

Georgios Kontis

Georgios Kontis is an Attorney at Law and a member of the Athens Bar Association. He has graduated from the Law School of Athens and holds a postgraduate and doctoral degree from the abovementioned School in the scientific field of Civil Procedure. Part of his doctoral research took place at the Law School of the University of Freiburg in Germany. He has issued monographs, studies and articles related to the scientific field of Procedural Law. He is a member of the Association of Greek Proceduralists and the Scientific Association of International Procedural Law. He has presented papers at conferences and seminars both in Greece and in Germany, and he regularly presents seminars for lawyers, notaries and bailiffs on issues relevant to the scientific field of Civil Procedure. He has participated in research programs at the University of Athens. As a lawyer he specializes in banking, civil, commercial and administrative law cases. He speaks English and German.

Nikos Faldamis is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Professionals Informatics Society (HePIS), Greek representative of the Council of the European Professionals Informatics Societies. He is also Health Management Expert.

For the last thirty years, he got involved in management responsibilities in the Public and Private Sectors. Ηe served as General Director in a Medical & Diagnostic Center in Athens, as a Chairman of the Board and CEO for the Oncology Hospital "Agios Savvas", the Maternity Hospital "Elena Venizelou", the General Hospital "Alexandra" and the Pathology Hospital "Spiliopouleio". Additionally, he was Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the "Olympic Airways", Financial and Marketing Director in Cargo for the "Olympic Airways", and Expert at the European Committee of the Regions.

Among others, he has participated either as a President or as a member in working groups, technical and scientific committees in various organizations.

UNICEF has awarded him for the actions taken for the "Elena Venizelou" Hospital to become a "Baby-Friendly Hospital". During his service, through speeches at Conferences, interviews in newspapers, special magazines and the media, the issue of "Abandoned Children" was highlighted.

Furthermore, he was a guest Business Excellence Workshop Lecturer for the Athens University of Economics and Business, and the Department of Business Administration of the Athens Technological Educational Institute in Strategy and Development of Management Information Systems.

He, holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of Piraeus and a MSc, Diplôme d’ Etudes Approfondies (D.E.A.) in Operations Research from the University of Aix-Marseille ΙΙΙ in France.

Maria Psalla is an attorney. She received her degree from the Faculty of Law of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and holds a M. Sc. in Finance and Institutional Framework of Money and Capital Markets from University of Piraeus. She has over twenty years of work experience as an attorney and she is the legal advisor of the Hellenic Accreditation System (E.SY.D.). She has worked as a legal advisor at the Ministries of Development, of Development and Competitiveness and of Transport and Communications. She has participated in legislative committees and has experience in law-making and drawing up regulations. She has worked as a consultant to the World Bank.

She is the legal advisor of the three Hellenic Networks of Precision Medicine on Oncology, of Precision Medicine in Cardiology and of the Flagship Action for Epidemiological Study of SARS-CoV-2.

She has worked in the compliance of companies, especially in the health sector, with the General Data Protection Regulation and she is certified DPO by Athens Association Bar. She is an Accredited Mediator and Assessor of Quality Management Systems.

She has been appointed as alternate member of the Hellenic DPA since November 2021.
